THE LLANGANATES-SANGAY ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR

Its situated between Llanganates and Sangay National Parks, in a region of extremely high biodiversity value, the Andean Cordillera Real Oriental. The corridor is ecologically essential to ensure the connection of the two parks and this mountain range is a hotspot for a number of important species. According to the  management plan, 71% of the site is still forested. The predominant forest types include variations of the humid foothill and sub-tropical evergreen forests. The site is known to be home to four globally threatened birds including: Phlegophilus hemileucurusGalbula pastazae, Dysithamnus occidentalis and Dendroica cerulea. It is also home to the Near Threatened  Campylopterus villaviscensio and Aburria aburri. In total, 270 birds species have been recorded from the area. The corridor is also home to 101 mammal species, 48 species of amphibian and 5 species of reptile. 195 endemic species of plants have been described from the watershed of Rio Pastaza, including 91 species of orchid.

 

CORREDOR ECOLÒGICO  LLANGANATES-SANGAY

 

Está situado entre los Llanganates y Sangay Parques Nacionales, aquí se encuentra la Cordillera Real Oriental, una región con uno de los mayores índices de  biodiversidad de Ecuador. El Corredor es ecológicamente esencial para asegurar la conexión de los dos Parques y este sector es un importante punto de acceso, tranferencia e intercambio genètico para las especies de plantas y animales. De acuerdo con el plan de gestión, el 71% del sitio es aún cubierto de bosques maduros, predominando bosques siempre verde montano y  subtropical. El sitio es conocido por ser el hogar de cuatro aves amenazadas a nivel mundial, incluyendo: Phlegophilus hemileucurus, Galbula pastazae, Dysithamnus occidentalis y Dendroica cerulea. También es el hogar de la villaviscensio Campylopterus Casi Amenazado y Aburria aburri. En total, 270 especies de aves han sido registradas en el área. El corredor es también el hogar de 101 especies de mamíferos, 48 ​​especies de anfibios y 5 especies de reptiles. 195 especies endémicas de plantas han sido descritas desde la cuenca del río Pastaza, incluyendo 91 especies de orquídeas.
